Alzheimer’s progression affects the parts of the brain that control our thoughts, memory and language.
Alzheimer’s progression is going to affect your loved one’s:
- Short term memory – they won’t remember what was said or done minutes ago
- Ability to think rationally and process information logically
- Ability to care for themselves and perform daily activities – such as brushing their teeth, dressing, bathing, toileting etc.
The disease is going to cause:
- Behavior changes and confusion
- Difficulty reading and writing
- Ask the same questions over and over again
- Unable to recognize familiar people, places and things
- Inability to sensor or filter what they are saying
- Lack of initiation and motivation
- Withdraw from family and friends
- Live in the past
Alzheimer’s progression means that, eventually, your loved one will need total care.
